Since Lerman said he doesn't think he's old enough to play Poseidon, it seems unlikely the actor would be old enough to play Poseidon's brother Zeus, king of the gods, either. While Hades, Ares, and Medusa have already been cast, major Greek gods such as Zeus, Poseidon, and Apollo have not. While many of the leading roles have already been cast, some big ones still have yet to be tied to an actor, leaving the door open for Lerman's possible return.

Poseidon casting has yet to be announced for the show, but a theory that Luke Arnold could be an option through his connection to series creator Jonathan E. While it is an intriguing idea, Lerman doesn't believe he's yet old enough for the role, saying he wouldn't even cast himself if he was on the creative team. According to the 30-year-old actor, he has been approached by people who believe he should return in a different role than the one he played in the movies: that of Percy Jackson's father and the god of the seas, Poseidon.

However, the film will have some competition, as Steve Guttenberg, Adam Baldwin and Rutger Hauer are starring in a TV movie based on the original novel.Speaking to Esquire, Lerman discussed his breakout role and whether he could return to the Percy Jackson world in the new series. Filming is due to start in less than two weeks on the Warners lot, with a release date pencilled in for May 5 next year. Emmy Rossum is following her role in disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow and sort-of disaster movie The Phantom of the Opera by getting all wet all over again as the teenage daughter, and playing her boyfriend is Mike Vogel, who you may or may not remember from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Clearly Russell fans are in for a treat over the next few months, with upcoming appearances for the erstwhile Snake Plisken in Sky High and Dreamer: Inspired By A True Story coming soon. The legend that is Kurt Russell has signed on to play an ex-fireman turned mayor, who's traveling with his teenage daughter and her boyfriend. Now the cast has started to board the film, and a rather tasty line-up it is too. As with all good things, it's now being remade, as we reported here, with Wolfgang Petersen now in the director's chair as well as producing. The 1972 original saw a cruise ship capsized by a tidal wave, forcing a plucky band of survivors to make their way up / down through the ship to find a way out through the hull. You know, when it comes to upside-down-sinking-ship films, it's all about The Poseidon Adventure.
